So it's that time of year again when the Flyers play their 2011-12 season. It was a very eventful offseason with the Flyers sending Mike Richards to LA, Jeff Carter to CBJ, and signing Ilya Bryzgalov to a 9 yr $51 million contract. The Flyers acquired Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds for Richards and also got Jakub Voracek plus a draft pick for Carter. After everything settled down there was just more that happened with the team. The team signed Max Talbot, Andreas Lilja and the legendary Jaromir Jagr who returned from 3 years in the KHL. Now everyone thought that without Richards and Carter we would have nobody to look to for scoring but they are mistakened. We have Giroux, JVR, Briere, Jagr, Simmonds and everyone else that can produce. Now onto the season so far:
Flyers opened the season @ BOS and won 2-1. The D looked solid after the Bruins had scored first. Also, Bryzgalov played well too. Giroux dangled too. The team played great as a whole and beat the defending Cup champs.
Flyers travel to NJ to play the Devils and won 3-0. Bryzgalov gave the Flyers their first shutout since April 6th, 2010. Matt Read scored his first NHL goal, Giroux scored his second of the season. Simmonds got his first goal and had a good fight in which he f*cked up Clarkson.
Overall everyone looks good so far and we just have to see where things go from here. The Flyers play in their home opener Oct 12th vs VAN. Should be a good matchup. Thanks for reading and GO FLYERS!!!!
