Playing Catch-Up
We left off with the Flyers playing the Senators on Oct. 18th and winning 7-2. Sean Couturier got his first NHL goal and the Flyers downed the Sens hard. After that, the Flyers played the Caps at home and lost 5-2. I didnt get to watch the game live but from what I heard the Caps had lots of traffic in front of the net and Bryzgalov had little to no vision on when or where a shot was coming. Tough loss on that note. I'm not gonna bore anyone with the recent game recaps for this post. Getting down to what's important now is the return of Pronger. Pronger was hit just next to his eyeball by a stick in the Flyers vs Leafs game a couple weeks ago. He had blurred vision for a couple days and saw a doctor each day to monitor progress. The high stick was not intentional so there was no league action taken in the matter. Pronger was urged by Holmgren and his doctor that he should now wear a visor while playing. Pronger is reluctant but he should be smart enough to stay safe. He has been wearing the visor in practice for the last few days and he looks to return to the team Wednesday(November 9th) when the Flyers take on the TB Lightning at St Pete Times Forum. Overall, the Flyers as a team have been solid for the last couple weeks. I still think there can be some adjustments made to tighten up the defense and back checking. Other than that, that's all I've got for you this week. As always, GO FLYERS!!!!!!

Week 2 Update
So after the Flyers took on the Bruins and Devils in the first 2 games of the season, things got hype as people anticipated the Flyers' home opener against Vancouver. The game didnt dissapoint either. The Flyers won 5-4 with goals from Giroux, Pronger, Voracek, Van Riemsdyk, and The Mesz( for all you stupid people it's Andrej Meszaros). What a great game it was. the atmosphere of the Wells Fargo Center was electric and the pre game videos and introductions were sick. Also, the Flyers paid tribute to the Lokomotiv and Brad McCrimmon(R.I.P to all), then Lauren Hart blew the roof with the Canadian anthem then the Star Spangled Banner. Overall it was a great win for the Flyers to make them 3-0-0.
On October 15th , the Flyers took on the LA Kings which meant the return of Mike Richards and Simon Gagne plus some other former Flyers players. The Flyers put up a good fight but saldy lost in OT 3-2. The first loss is always a tough one. Still, Bryzgalov looked solid and the team played well again. The refs just didnt know how to call penalties against LA, that's just bush league. But anyway, the Flyers still look good as a team and theres still lots of hockey to be played. Hope you enjoyed the read and as always LETS GO FLYERS!!!!!!

Week 1 Thoughts
So it's that time of year again when the Flyers play their 2011-12 season. It was a very eventful offseason with the Flyers sending Mike Richards to LA, Jeff Carter to CBJ, and signing Ilya Bryzgalov to a 9 yr $51 million contract. The Flyers acquired Brayden Schenn and Wayne Simmonds for Richards and also got Jakub Voracek plus a draft pick for Carter. After everything settled down there was just more that happened with the team. The team signed Max Talbot, Andreas Lilja and the legendary Jaromir Jagr who returned from 3 years in the KHL. Now everyone thought that without Richards and Carter we would have nobody to look to for scoring but they are mistakened. We have Giroux, JVR, Briere, Jagr, Simmonds and everyone else that can produce. Now onto the season so far:
Flyers opened the season @ BOS and won 2-1. The D looked solid after the Bruins had scored first. Also, Bryzgalov played well too. Giroux dangled too. The team played great as a whole and beat the defending Cup champs.
Flyers travel to NJ to play the Devils and won 3-0. Bryzgalov gave the Flyers their first shutout since April 6th, 2010. Matt Read scored his first NHL goal, Giroux scored his second of the season. Simmonds got his first goal and had a good fight in which he f*cked up Clarkson.
Overall everyone looks good so far and we just have to see where things go from here. The Flyers play in their home opener Oct 12th vs VAN. Should be a good matchup. Thanks for reading and GO FLYERS!!!!
